Winning pasta meal in minutes

I’ve recently been doing some work with some of the great Cambridgeshire bloggers and I have been inspired by some of the amazing talent out there and the passion for food in our corner of the world.

This weeks “Tastier Tuesday” is a twist on a recipe by Pina from onetwoculinarystew, a Canadian foodie living in Cambridgeshire.

Ham and Pea Pasta

This was such a quick meal.

To serve 4:

300g wholemeal pasta

200g of ham

150g of grated cheddar

150g of frozen peas

2 cloves of garlic

400ml of creme fraiche or cream

Grated parmesan to taste

Salt and black pepper to taste


Cook the pasta as directed on the packet.

Whilst the pasta is cooking chop up your ham into small chunks, crush your garlic cloves, cook the peas in the microwave or on the hob and grate the cheese.

Check the pasta is cooked after about 12 minutes. We like ours slightly hard. Drain the cooking liquid from the pasta and put the pasta to one side.

Once all the liquid has drained from the pasta place it in a large saucepan. Add your creme fraiche and then turn on a moderate heat stirring the mixture all the time. Slowly add the crushed garlic, the cooked and drained peas, creme fraiche and grated cheese.

Add salt, black pepper and parmesan to taste and serve piping hot!
